Royal Free Hospital Medical Library - bank holiday opening

The Royal Free Hospital Medical Library will be open on bank holiday Monday 2 May 2016, from 9.00am to 6.00pm.

Interruptions to Library Services systems, Monday 11th - Wednesday 13th April

The library management system and some aspects of the Explore service will be unavailable between Monday 11th – Wednesday 13th April because of essential system maintenance. The self-service machine will be unavailable -  staff at our Issue/Enquiry point will be available to issue and accept returns and provide assistance during this time. No items will be due during this period and fines will not be charged. It will also not be possible to borrow and return laptops during this time. Find out more.

Sunday opening at the Royal Free Hospital Medical Library

The Royal Free Hospital Medical Library will have extended opening hours to include Sundays, from April until the end of July 2016.

Starting Sunday 3 April 2016 the library will be operating the following opening hours, to the end of July 2016:

Monday-Friday 09:00-22:00

Saturday 09:00-17:00

Sunday 11:00-17:00

Angela Young profiled in 'Women at UCL: Presence and Absence' exhibition

We are delighted to announce that Angela Young, Information Skills Trainer at the Royal Free Hospital Medical Library, was nominated and selected to be featured in the exhibition Women at UCL: Presence and Absence, to mark International Women’s Day 2016.

Nominations were invited from UCL staff and students for women at UCL who have inspired or encouraged them, or made them think differently about their work and study. Angela was nominated by colleagues who have been inspired by her innovative approach to designing and delivering information skills training, including leading innovation sharing events across UCL Library Services, by the passion she has for her work, the support and mentoring she provides to staff members and by her demonstration that it is possible to have both a successful career and a family life by working flexibly to achieve her goals.

The exhibition, which was opened by the Provost on March 9^th, features 24 inspiring UCL women who were selected from around 200 nominations. It also features material from the UCL Archives exploring women’s presence and absence from UCL. The exhibition runs in the North Cloisters until the end of March. The Royal Free Hospital Medical Library's opening hours over the Easter period are as follows:

Monday 21st - Wednesday 23rd March: OPEN 9.00am - 10.00pm 
Thursday 24th March: OPEN 9.00am-5.30pm

Friday 25th - Monday 28th March: CLOSED

Tuesday 29th - Wednesday 30th March: OPEN 9.00am - 6.00pm

Thursday 31st March: Normal opening hours resume

 

 

Christmas opening hours 2015/16

The Royal Free Hospital Medical Library's opening hours over the festive season are as follows:

Wednesday 23rd December: 9.00am - 5.00pm.

Thursday 24th December - Monday 28th December: CLOSED

Tuesday 29th December: OPEN 9.00am - 6.00pm

Wednesday 30th December: OPEN 9.00am - 6.00pm

Thursday 31st December - Sunday 3rd January: CLOSED

The library reopens with our regular opening hours at 9.00am on Monday 4^th January 2016.

Royal Free Hospital Medical Library not open until 1pm on Saturday 5th December.

The Royal Free Hospital Medical Library will not open until 1pm on Saturday 5th December owing to essential repair work on the stairs. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. The scheduled opening hours on Saturday 5th December will be 1pm-5pm.
